This is a collection of stories I started writing over halloween which were intended to be a little bit eerie. Each one is inspired by a song and will include at least one line of the original lyrics within the story.
He remembered the comfort of her mother’s breast, the warmth of her soft touch, and the safety ever present in the dark quiet forest. Every day was like a dream: never hungry, never cold, always happy and cloaked forever in the familiar scents of the herd. Brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends, all living together happily and caring for one another’s young.
The cold weight of metal bit into her wrists as the wind tore through the cell. Cold sharp as knives, burning the already raw flesh desperately clinging to the bone beneath. Her last meal had come hours ago and though it had been warm when it arrived the sickness within her had not allowed her the strength or stomach to keep it down, just as had been the case more often than not for the last several weeks. It remained untouched by the door, cold, an irritant to the prison guards who resented her refusal to eat - uncaring that it was not out of desire to be uncooperative. She would be punished for it later, she knew, but did not see reason to feel anything about that one way or the other by now. She would not last the winter.
